Webfleet is a global fleet-management and vehicle-telematics platform owned by Bridgestone Corporation. It began in Leipzig in 1999 as a DataFactory web application, one of the early software-as-a-service fleet products. TomTom acquired DataFactory in 2005 and developed the platform through TomTom WORK and TomTom Telematics before Bridgestone acquired the business in 2019. The platform combines real-time vehicle and asset tracking, trips, workflow, driver coaching, video, professional navigation, maintenance, electric-vehicle management and open interfaces. Webfleet says it serves more than 50,000 businesses and is used by drivers in more than 180 countries. It operates a dedicated New Zealand site and support channel. Webfleet's New Zealand RUC relevance is indirect but concrete. It is not listed as an NZTA eRUC provider; instead its vehicle data can be integrated with specialist providers. Webfleet and Picobyte publicised a New Zealand integration, and Webfleet's API reference includes support for road-usage-charge calculations. This allows fleets to retain Webfleet as their operational platform while using a local RUC service for licensing or compliant distance workflows. In Australia, TCA lists Webfleet Solutions as an Application Service Provider for TMA and RIM and approves the LINK 740 device at Levels 2 and 1. That regulatory-telematics experience increases its relevance to future New Zealand rules that may recognise built-in or third-party telematics. It does not, however, establish a current New Zealand approval.
