Teletrac Navman is an NZTA-approved Electronic System Provider (ESP) for electronic RUC, appointed on 3 November 2017. They offer eRUC through their RUC Manager product with EDR1 (trucks) and EDR2 (trailers) devices. While EROAD dominates eRUC with ~86% by value, Teletrac Navman is one of the key alternative providers serving the heavy vehicle market.
Wholly-owned subsidiary. Vontier spun off from Fortive (2020), which spun off from Danaher (2016).
Teletrac Navman has passed through multiple corporate parents in quick succession: Prairie Capital / Danaher (2013), Fortive spin-off (2016), Vontier spin-off (2020). While the NZ operations have maintained continuity under Ian Daniel, the frequent changes in ultimate ownership have created uncertainty for some customers and staff.
Like all NZ telematics providers, Teletrac Navman faces the challenge of migrating legacy 3G-connected devices to 4G following NZ's 3G network shutdown. The company has been actively urging customers to upgrade to avoid losing GPS tracking and compliance functionality.
