Overview

Safety 'n Action is New Zealand's leading provider of health and safety training and advisory services, with over 29 years of experience transforming workplace safety culture across the country. Operating as part of the Aspire2 Group - one of New Zealand's largest private education providers - Safety 'n Action delivers a comprehensive range of NZQA-accredited courses through more than 20 purpose-built training centres from Whangarei to Invercargill. The organisation holds Category 1 accreditation from the NZQA, the highest quality rating for training delivery. In 2018, Safety 'n Action merged with Axiom Training (established 1998), significantly expanding its transport licensing, crane operation, and industrial training capabilities. The combined entity now offers one of New Zealand's broadest vocational training portfolios, covering truck licensing (Class 2-5), dangerous goods endorsements, forklift certification, first aid, fire safety, working at heights, confined spaces, and site-specific safety programmes. Safety 'n Action serves over 49,000 customers nationally, from individual trainees seeking licences and endorsements to major corporate clients requiring enterprise-wide safety training programmes. Courses are delivered through training centres, on-site at client locations, and via online platforms, with 60 industry-experienced trainers across the country.

RUC Involvement

Safety 'n Action trains thousands of heavy vehicle operators annually who will go on to work in the transport industry where RUC is a core operating cost. While Safety 'n Action does not directly process or sell RUC, its truck licensing and transport endorsement courses are foundational to the heavy vehicle workforce that drives RUC-liable vehicles. The organisation's compliance training helps ensure operators understand their regulatory obligations, including vehicle licensing requirements.

Market Position

  • One of New Zealand's largest NZTA-approved heavy vehicle training providers
  • Over 20 training centres nationwide from Whangarei to Invercargill
  • Category 1 NZQA accreditation - the highest quality rating
  • 200,000+ students trained in the last three years across all programmes

Policy Positions

  • Focused on workforce training and safety outcomes rather than direct RUC policy advocacy
  • Transport licensing programmes contribute to a qualified heavy vehicle workforce operating under the RUC system
