Wellington-based fleet lifecycle consultancy providing fleet analysis, procurement tools and decarbonisation planning.
OptiFleet is the trading name of Optimal Fleet Solutions Limited, a privately held Wellington-based fleet lifecycle consultancy incorporated in 2012. Its managing director, Jack Gordon-Crosby, says he co-founded the business to develop online tools that support vehicle-purchasing decisions. The company's website does not identify the other co-founder. OptiFleet provides fleet audits, utilisation and composition analysis, capital replacement planning, vehicle comparisons, procurement support, total-cost-of-ownership and lease modelling, and electric-vehicle transition and charging-infrastructure planning. It organises its consulting approach around a company-developed framework called the Seven Pillars of Fleet Management Excellence. Its principal digital services are BestCar, an online vehicle sourcing and bidding platform, and the Virtual Vehicle Register, a cloud service combining client asset information with NZ Transport Agency data. The register reports fleet composition, compliance, utilisation and emissions information, including registration, warrant or certificate of fitness, and RUC compliance. EECA's Vehicle Total Cost of Ownership Calculator uses data sourced from OptiFleet alongside other sources. The calculator compares vehicle powertrains and includes road user charges where applicable. In 2024 EECA also approved $202,000 of Low Emission Transport Fund co-funding, subject to final contracting, for Optimal Fleet Solutions to develop a Scope 3 transport-emissions modelling and reporting portal.
OptiFleet's online vehicle procurement and bidding platform for business and private buyers. It supports vehicle comparisons and sourcing decisions based on specifications, safety, sustainability and lifecycle costs. BestCar examples include road user charges in total-cost-of-ownership calculations where applicable.

Optimal Fleet Solutions Limited was incorporated in April 2012 and trades as OptiFleet. Managing director Jack Gordon-Crosby says he co-founded the business to develop online tools supporting informed vehicle-purchasing decisions.
EECA's ninth Low Emission Vehicles Contestable Fund round approved $107,000 for an OptiFleet digital fleet-optimisation and electrification dashboard and $499,000 for fleet audits, utilisation studies, decarbonisation roadmaps and replacement planning.
EECA announced approval, subject to final contracts, of $202,000 in Low Emission Transport Fund co-funding for Optimal Fleet Solutions to develop a Scope 3 transport-emissions modelling and reporting portal using fuel-spend, global SIM-card and GPS telemetry data.

OptiFleet has direct operational relevance to road user charges through fleet-compliance reporting and vehicle cost modelling. Its Virtual Vehicle Register reports RUC compliance alongside registration and warrant or certificate of fitness status. BestCar total-cost examples include RUC where applicable. EECA's Vehicle Total Cost of Ownership Calculator uses OptiFleet vehicle data and includes RUC for applicable vehicles. OptiFleet also provides EV-transition and total-cost modelling, but no current primary source was found showing that it offers a distinct RUC-optimisation advisory service or has taken a public position on universal distance-based charging.
OptiFleet became the data provider for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority's (EECA) Vehicle Total Cost of Ownership Calculator, a government tool that helps New Zealand businesses compare the total cost of owning electric, plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel vehicles.
OptiFleet launched the Virtual Vehicle Register (VVR), described as New Zealand's first live fleet management dashboard. The platform connects directly to live data feeds, enabling organisations to track fleet compliance, emissions profiles, utilisation, and EV conversion opportunities in real time.
On 13 June 2024 the Registrar of Companies published notice of an intention to remove Optimal Fleet Solutions Limited under section 318(1)(b) of the Companies Act 1993, stating there were reasonable grounds to believe it was not carrying on business and there was no proper reason for it to continue. The company was not removed: current register-derived information records it as Registered and shows an annual return filed on 8 June 2026. The public evidence reviewed does not explain how the notice was resolved.
