Connects transport agencies, businesses and researchers working on intelligent transport, including electronic road charging.
ITS New Zealand brings together people working on transport technology. Its members include government agencies, transport operators, technology businesses, infrastructure specialists and researchers. ITS stands for intelligent transportation systems: the digital tools and connected equipment used to help transport networks work better.
The organisation is an independent, not-for-profit incorporated society. It runs conferences and networking events, shares technical knowledge and connects New Zealand practitioners with overseas ITS organisations.
Road user charging was one of the themes at its T-Tech conference, held at the University of Auckland on 7–8 July 2026. By bringing policy makers and technology suppliers into the same discussions, ITSNZ provides a forum for the practical questions around charging systems, data and implementation.
The society’s board draws on different parts of the transport sector. ITSNZ is also preparing to host the ITS Asia-Pacific Forum in Auckland on 5–7 May 2027.
