New Zealand's most innovative GPS fleet management solution - proudly 100% Kiwi-owned, serving 1,000+ businesses from Christchurch.
FleetPin is a 100% New Zealand-owned GPS tracking and fleet management company founded in 2013 in Christchurch by brothers Justin and Todd McCormack. The inspiration came when Todd, who ran a crash investigations business, noticed that many small businesses were missing out on GPS tracking because existing solutions were too expensive and complicated. Justin, a software engineer, built a prototype within weeks, and FleetPin grew from a side project into a company now employing 18 people and serving over 1,000 New Zealand businesses. FleetPin offers a cloud-based GPS tracking platform with real-time vehicle location updates every 20 seconds, a machine monitoring subscription for heavy or slow-moving equipment, and Safetrax - a purpose-built rollover safety system that is the only product of its kind in New Zealand and Australia for quad bikes, side-by-sides, and tractors. The company targets five key industry verticals: agribusiness (farming, horticulture, forestry), trades and construction, machinery and hire, freight and logistics, and bus and coach operations. The company was recognised as one of Christchurch's top 10 companies to watch in 2018 after participating in ChristchurchNZ's Hi-Growth Launch Programme. FleetPin operates on a no-contract subscription model, and all support is provided from its Christchurch office. Notable clients include Dairy Holdings Limited, New Zealand's largest dairy farming operation, which uses FleetPin's Safetrax satellite system for remote on-farm safety monitoring.
Cloud-based real-time GPS vehicle tracking platform with location updates every 20 seconds. Features include driving behaviour monitoring, idle time tracking, impact detection, location alerts, compliance reminders, and SOS functionality.
GPS tracking subscription for heavy or slow-moving machinery (excavators, tractors, shipping containers). Updates location and operational data every 30 minutes, suited to equipment that doesn't need real-time tracking.
Purpose-built rollover safety system for on-farm vehicles - the only product of its kind in NZ and Australia. Detects pre-rollover conditions with customisable roll and pitch thresholds, sends automatic alerts on rollover events, includes manual SOS button, and operates with or without cellular coverage via satellite.
Automatically syncs vehicle WoF, CoF, registration, and RUC details from Waka Kotahi NZTA, providing a centralised compliance view across the fleet with automated expiry alerts.
Automated off-road RUC rebate tool included with all standard subscriptions. Uses GPS data to calculate off-road versus on-road mileage, generates RUCOR forms, and enables direct digital submission to NZTA. For many customers the RUC rebate alone pays for the GPS subscription.
Customisable virtual boundaries for vehicles and equipment. Alerts triggered on entry/exit of defined zones, supporting both operational management and off-road RUC tracking.
Tailored solutions for farming, horticulture, and forestry including GIS mapping integration, satellite tracking for remote areas, Safetrax rollover prevention, and off-road RUC reporting.
NZCI Asset Tracking Limited registered on 22 February 2013 (Company Number 4295938, NZBN 9429030344327) in Christchurch by brothers Justin McCormack (software engineer) and Todd McCormack (crash investigator) after identifying that small businesses lacked affordable GPS tracking solutions.
Company renamed from NZCI Asset Tracking Limited to Fleetpin Limited on 21 December 2015. Product launched commercially with core GPS vehicle tracking platform.
Named one of Christchurch's top 10 companies to watch by ChristchurchNZ. Participated in the Hi-Growth Launch Programme backed by MBIE. Received Callaghan Innovation grant funding to support product development.

Expanded team to 18 employees across software development, customer success, technical support, sales, and accounts. Passed 1,000 active business customers.

FleetPin provides off-road RUC rebate reporting as a standard feature included with all GPS tracking subscriptions. The system continuously tracks vehicle movements and automatically calculates off-road versus on-road mileage, enabling fleet operators to submit evidence-backed RUC refund applications to NZTA. For many customers - particularly in agriculture, construction, and forestry - the RUC rebate savings alone pay for the GPS tracking subscription, effectively making the fleet management system cost-neutral.
Fleetpin was co-founded in 2013 by brothers Justin and Todd McCormack, who identified a gap in the GPS tracking market for solutions tailored to smaller New Zealand businesses. The pair developed the first version after hours while keeping their day jobs, growing from a garage-style startup to a company serving over 1,000 Kiwi businesses with 18 team members.
Fleetpin launched its RUCOR Advanced add-on, automating the process of claiming Road User Charges refunds for off-road vehicle travel. The tool uses GPS tracking data to automatically generate pre-filled PDF applications for Waka Kotahi NZTA, significantly reducing administrative burden for businesses operating vehicles off-road.
Fleetpin introduced its NZTA Sync add-on and RUC Scanner beta feature, enabling automatic synchronisation of WoF, CoF, registration, and RUC details directly from the Waka Kotahi NZTA registry. The RUC Scanner allows fleet managers to use their mobile phone camera to scan physical RUC licence barcodes, positioning Fleetpin as one of the few NZ-owned telematics providers with direct NZTA compliance integration.
