New Zealand's telematics innovator, combining AI, analytics, and advanced GPS to unlock fleet intelligence for over 55,000 drivers daily.
Argus Tracking is an Auckland-based fleet-management and telematics provider founded in 2007 by Aaron Muir. It supplies GPS vehicle and asset tracking, fleet reporting, driver-safety tools, compliance management, AI video telematics and shared-fleet functions to New Zealand organisations. Argus reports that its platform monitors more than 55,000 drivers daily and processes more than 21 million vehicle positions each week. Banyan Software acquired the business in June 2022. It now operates through Argus Tracking Holdings Limited, a New Zealand company wholly owned by Banyan Software NZ Limited, with Banyan Software Inc. recorded as its ultimate holding company. Argus announced Matthew Talia as its newly appointed Chief Executive Officer and Cameron Simmonds as General Manager in July 2026. Its RUC-related services include Smart Renew for automated RUC and registration purchasing through an Argus–Fleetwise integration, Smart eRUC digital displays, and RUC Collect for calculating off-road use and preparing NZTA RUCOR refund forms. Argus also offers its Vision AI dual-channel dashcam, asset tracking, route optimisation, fuel reporting and GPS-linked Pool Booking. Product capabilities and performance figures are organisational claims unless independently stated.

Dual-channel road- and driver-facing dashcam linked to the Argus platform. Argus says it detects collision risks, pedestrians, fatigue, phone use and distraction, and supports remote playback and live viewing over 4G and Wi-Fi.
Tracking for powered and non-powered assets, including long-life battery devices and Iridium satellite tracking for areas outside cellular coverage. Optional safety inputs include panic and rollover alerts.

Argus Tracking markets three RUC-management products. Smart Renew triggers RUC purchases at configured distance thresholds through an Argus–Fleetwise integration. Smart eRUC combines automated purchasing with a solar-powered digital windscreen display that Argus says is NZTA-approved. RUC Collect uses GPS data to calculate off-road use and prepare NZTA's electronic RUCOR refund form. These services support purchasing, display, status monitoring and refund preparation, but NZTA's public provider list does not identify Argus itself as an approved electronic-system or electronically assisted RUC provider.
In June 2022, Canadian software holding company Banyan Software acquired Argus Tracking. At the time of acquisition, Argus had approximately 500 customers and over 10,000 connected assets across New Zealand and Australia. Founder Aaron Muir departed after 15 years building the company.
Following the Banyan acquisition, Andy Patrick took over as CEO in 2023. Under new leadership, Argus deepened its partnership with global telematics giant Geotab, integrating the Geotab GO9 hardware platform to deliver high-precision GPS fleet tracking across New Zealand.
